Let Your Child Thrive at the Kumon Math and Reading Centre
The substantial value of early literacy and numeracy skills should never be underestimated. When children go through their language acquisition phase, their neural pathways are conditioned to absorb many other cognitive skills, including math and reading. This is when you want them to form solid foundations for their future academic learning.
At the Kumon Math and Reading Centre, children learn to develop critical thinking skills that foster more than academic excellence. They follow the Kumon Method of individualized instruction and self-learning to gain enthusiasm for education. The goal is to help them become independent thinkers who can follow an education curriculum while boosting their learning potential.
The Kumon Method was developed in the mid-20th century by a Japanese secondary education teacher. Toru Kumon’s philosophy was focused on self-learning, aiming to cultivate abilities to tackle problems independently. At our centre, children can begin their educational journey as early as their third birthday; they start with an initial assessment to pinpoint where they are in terms of language and calculation skills. Our instructors observe their approach, skill levels, and attitudes.
After the assessment, we create individualized study plans tailored to the needs and abilities of our students. The orientation provides them with cognitive tasks and tests they can progressively master until they get used to earning high grades. With reading, we emphasize phonics and critical understanding beyond summaries. With math, we help them visualize abstract concepts through mental calculation; this allows them to get enthusiastic about new intellectual challenges.
Whether you are looking for remedial tutoring, high grades, reducing homework stress, or boosting your child’s learning potential, the Kumon Method can help. Virtual classes are available on Mondays and Fridays; we keep class sizes small to promote individual work, and your child can complete worksheets on paper or tablets.
